Big differences between the GFS and ECMWF Models on the Snow in the Plains

The models are once again at odds with each other on the amount of snow that will come to the Plains. I am leaning toward the ECMWF on this one because I think the GFS might be overdone on the snow amounts given the time of the year. If this were the end of November I would say, “yep here comes the snow.” But this is the end of October so really need to have a very cold airmass for snow all the way to Texas.

What I do see agreement on and which I am not showing below but will mention is the snow for the Northeast next week. Both models seem to agree that the snow will hit VT, NH and ME late next week.
