A line of gusty showers and thunderstorms will develop in the Midwest and Mid-Mississippi Valley this afternoon, and another line will form in the Mid-Atlantic states Sunday afternoon. Winds with the storms may gust over 40 mph. In general, winds will be 30-50 mph in gusts just due to the storm moving through. The jet stream aloft is going at 170 mph alone with the 850 mb winds almost 100 mph. This is why you are going to see the strong winds in general but the storms will only enhance those winds.
