GFS vs ECMWF on the Storm Next Week

The operational models are at odds on the outcome of the storm next week. There is no doubt that a trough is coming into the eastern half of the country per the positive PNA. The NAO seems the be having issues going negative for a coastal storm and seems to want to flirt with the neutral line which doesn’t mean we will not have a storm, it just favors snow more interior then down to the coast. However, the ECMWF does show a little snow into Norfolk, VA.

As I said in the video this morning, I think the outcome of this pattern is a storm that cuts into the Lakes with secondary low the develops and brings snow to the Appalachians and Northeast with the snow all the way in the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley. With such a strong trough, snow showers could occur all the way to Tennessee.
