Arctic Backs Up to the West Causing Snow

The arctic airmass is going to back up against the northern Rockies for the next couple of days which means more snow for the Northwest to the central Rockies. As a series of troughs move through, the mountains will see heavy snow with up to a foot of snow. Lighter snows will back into Wyoming and eastern Colorado and the Foothills where 1-6 inches of snow will Occur.

The cold is extreme across Montana and the Northern Plains where temperatures are well below zero with wind at times. It’s just horrible in regards to how it feels outside.

The Pacific Northwest will see snow with heavy snow over Snoqualmie Pass and snow even around Seattle. Seattle gets snow when arctic air comes into from the east and northeast. Ice may also occur down to Portland as cold air sneaks in.
