Snow and Wintry Mix Virginia to New England Today into this Evening

The storm is not quite over yet as a wave of low pressure is moving up from Virginia where freezing rain and sleet is occurring this morning. We may see a band of snow develop across parts of eastern Virginia into NJ followed by snow across New England this evening. The most snow will fall across New England where up to 4 inches will fall through Midnight tonight. Roads will range from wet to icy from Virginia to Maine. Below are the HRRR and NAM 3km as reference to snowfall amounts. We should see the storm end after midnight. With cold weather following, everything should freeze solid this weekend.

Still can’t get a storm that will ride up the coast to give ALL of New England a sizable snow storm. All we get are these weak and disorganized systems that sneak out eastward instead of wrapping up and turning the corner to head NNE up the coast. The pattern we’re in now will only produce small broken areas of moderate snow at best with most areas receiving light insignificant snow, at least by New England standards. I don’t consider it much of a storm unless it produces a large wide-spread area if 6+ in of snow.
