Severe Storms and Potential 25-50 Tornadoes!

The outbreak of severe has the potential to produce 25-50 tornadoes over the next 3 days. The bulk of the tornadoes will occur across the South on Wednesday. While the jet aloft is not as strong as one would like to see, the shear or veering of the winds is very sharp which will lead to rotating supercell storms. The rotation tracks from both the HRRR and NAM models shows numerous strong rotation tracks today and Wednesday. While the rotation does not always mean tornadoes, it can result in large, damaging hail. The storms are predicted to develop this evening across Texas into Oklahoma then redevelop across the South on Wednesday. The storms across the Carolina’s on Thursday will produce mainly hail and damaging winds but a tornado is still possible. This is going to be a major outbreak with the potential for large, damaging tornadoes, especially at night across Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi.
