A cold front that will move through the Mid-Atlantic will produce scattered severe storms this afternoon and evening. The storms will develop this afternoon in multiple lines from New York to West Virginia and North Carolina. Within the lines of storms, winds may gust over 50 mph and there can even be a brief tornado. The best chance of a tornado is along the I-95 corridor from New York City to Richmond. The storms should settle down late in the evening. The storms are developing in response to a strong jet stream aloft and a cold front coming through.
