I updated the snow map to show the changes in the weather. Texas will see a horrible ice storm followed by heavy snow so expect extended delays and power outages. The heavy snow is still expected from the Ohio Valley into into the Northeast with a band of 12-18 inches of snow in waves today through Friday. Due to thunderstorms, some areas in the Ohio Valley will see snow rates over an inch per hour. Since the snow is cutting across the country, major travel delays will occur along the major highways into the weekend.
Power Outages Map
Ice and sleet will develop along the Ohio River which will accumulate over an inch and cause widespread power outages that will last for a few days. Once the cold weather is in, it will stay through the weekend.
The Appalachians and Mid-Atlantic will see rain changing to snow and ice Thursday night into Friday. Friday will be the nasty day in those areas.
Heavy snow should hit the Northeast Thursday night into Friday.
Severe thunderstorms will also be an issue across the South Thursday. A squall line will develop with pockets of wind damage along the line from Louisiana to Georgia.
