A cold front will into the Northeast and Appalachians Friday afternoon and evening. That front will produce multiple lines of thunderstorms across the Northeast. Any storm can produce wind gusts over 50 mph and hail over a half inch. I don’t see this event producing tornadoes because the shear is very weak. Around the severe weather areas will be a zone of gusty storms. These are storms with gusty winds, small hail and brief heavy downpours.
Below you you can see the simulated radar for Friday afternoon and the VIL product which shows where hail may occur.
