I like what I see in the long range despite the warming for the next 10 days. Sometimes after massive cold waves, a warming trend occurs as the weather likes to flip to the other end. Despite the rise of the La Nina, the PNA will remain fairly strong through the Month of January and now we are seeing the AO staying strong through January as well. The NAO is coming and going too, so all that means snow will be in the West and Northern Plains early in week 1 of January then second storm trailing will bring snow and a mix event the 6-7th of January. Cold air will shift south from eastern Canada and interact with a storm coming up from the Gulf of Mexico. Most of the operational models are showing this event coming.
