This week will begin with snow in the West that will streak out across the Northern Plains. As the pattern begins to make a change toward the strong AO and NAO, the first snowstorm will occur in the East. The northern Plains will see 1-4 inches of snow Tuesday.
The storm that comes through the West Tuesday will move into the Plains Wednesday and Thursday. The models differ on the snow areas with the ECMWF having heavy snow from the central Plains into the central Appalachians while the GFS has snow from the Great Lakes into the Northeast. I went with the GFS for now but can see how the ECMWF is correct.
The other issue with that storm will be heavy thunderstorms from the Ohio Valley into the South Wednesday to Thursday time period.
