<title>Merry Christmas to all on site and Henry for his great work and time he puts into forecast. Gives J B a run for money every day and stays on task, which J B has always had issues with. When these 2 were forced out of Accuweather started slide to being just another site. Became just another corporate entity not even recognizable To real weather forecasters in Joel and Elliott days. Stay the course Henry. Hope for several good snows run plows in S C Pa.</title>

<title>Took Reba for a walk around 9am, sun was out for awhile. That had to be the coldest morning yet, I took her out!! Temp was 32° and the winds gusting to over 15mph, gusts to 25. <title>Opinion

3 reasons why 99.99% of all winter forecast have failed this season

1. El Nino turned out to be a big nothing burger for the east coast.

2. MJO, while most meteorologist were focused on the up coming El Nino, very few took into account the MJO which decided to not play well with all other indices. So thus far the indices have been wrong with respect to any sustained cold to support snowfall amounts predicted on any winter forecast.

3. AI introduced into the models rendering the models about as useful a tool for forecasting as Donkey Kong...in fact at this point Donkey Kong may actually be more effective, as a weather forecasting tool than the models. Why they would introduce AI into the forecast models? I have my own suspicion but this is a family show...so I digress.

Lessons learned

Don&#039;t get excited about an El Nino, we literally lived to see it have absolutely no impact on winter for the Mid-Atlantic and east coast thus far. AI is now part of the data input for the forecast models thus, they are pretty useless until 48 hours before any weather event, unfortunately this brings all meteorologist inline with the weather channel meteorologist who are basically &quot;nowcaster&quot; and not true meteorologist...IMO

None of this is a dig on Henry at all I love his forecasting style and have been following him for years, ever since AccuWeather. He is one of the few meteorologist who actually love winter and is not afraid to admit it and forecast it. He sticks to his forecast even if it&#039;s a bust and I will continue to follow him because he still makes weather exciting...IMO</title>

<title>I think everyone just bought into the El Niño and the possibility of a superstorm this year and so far it&#039;s just been either average of below average. I don&#039;t folks will be satisfied until they see a big daddy snowstorm come up the coast the likes of the 1993 superstorm or something close, they are looking for a milk and toilet paper, lights out blizzard with 50mph gust 30+ inches with snow drifts of at least 4-5 feet from WV, VA and all the way up the Mid-Atlantic and east coast....then everyone will be happy...LOL!!! with the El Niño and the hype (not you Henry) but the hype mets kept putting out there...this winter has just underperformed for most</title>

<title>A few days post Superstorm 1993 in State College PA. Corner of West Hamilton and Allen street. Allen street still mostly snow covered. 28&quot; if I recall correctly. Didn&#039;t have student teaching in Altoona the whole week after (I remember it starting on a Friday Night). Still looking for other pictures from back then. For reference, that&#039;s a meterstick in front of the snow pile. Penn State Geology always taught to have a reference object in your field pictures.</title>

<title>A couple of weeks ago I asked for someone to explain the bowling alley in central Ohio where major snowstorms always go into the gutters east, north, west, or south of us. No one offered any enlightenment.

However, i did dig up a video that did a great job of explaining the blizzards that hit the midwest and east from 1976-78, which allowed me to see what it takes for the bowling alley to get some play: A miracle.

youtube.com/watch?v=8lMcWD3EHqM. If you like blizzards, I think you&#039;ll like the story.</title>
