It is silly to talk about "the causal changes". If it were really possible for the programmers to understand and get right the algorithms and math input they would have computed the "new" causal changes and incorporated them into the projections for (say) three to five days out. Right or wrong on the ultimate result, AI (mainly Graphcast) has had essentially the same output for this storm all week long.
