    Weekend Storm is Mainly Rain!

Short Range: The GFS model was correct that the two branches of the jet will not phase which means a cold front comes across the Great Lakes into the Northeast first Friday followed by the storm late Saturday into Sunday. That storm could still bring snow to the far Northeast and parts of Quebec and Ontario Sunday.

As the storm develops over Texas, wet snow will hit the Texas Panhandle Friday. That area could see up to 6-8 inches of snow.
Heavy rains and perhaps some severe storms will develop across eastern Texas into the lower Mississippi Valley. Some minor flooding problems may occur from Louisiana into Tennessee Friday into Saturday. Once the upper level low comes out, severe storms could hit the lower Mississippi Valley Saturday. That storm moves northeast with rain Sunday.

Another storm will come into the Pac NW this weekend. That storm will spread heavy snows into the Cascades and Northern Rockies.

Long Range: The long range remains tough as the La Nina has weakened and is not the driver anymore. The AO has taken over and the GFS I think is handling the pattern a little better now.
The AO will push colder weather south and that should bring snow bands along the I-80 corridor in the long range. As we go into early December, the pattern becomes wintry once again with shots of very cold air coming south with a stormy southern branch of the jet.
