    Happy Thanksgiving!

Short Range: The cold front will move across the Great Lakes and Northeast tonight and Friday. Only showers will occur but some areas across Northern Maine could see some snow.
Snow will develop across western Texas and eastern New Mexico tonight and Friday. Up to 8 inches of snow will fall.

That same storm that brings the Texas snow will also produce heavy thunderstorms from eastern Texas into the Tennessee Valley Tonight and Friday. Some of the storms will produce strong winds and hail. Winds may gust up to 50 mph.

As the rain moves northeast this weekend, a swath of wet snow could develop from Iowa into Wisconsin and northern Michigan Sunday. This will be a marginal event with the potential of 1-4 inches of snow. Wet snow may also occur across parts of Ontario and Quebec, perhaps into northern NY, VT, NH, and ME.

Long Range: The storm for next week will bring snow through the Pac NW into the central Rockies Sunday into Monday. The GFS and ECMWF are in consensus on a swath of snow cutting through the Plains into the Great Lakes Wednesday. That area could see over 4 inches of snow.

The cold air is coming and the GFS and EPS and CFS all show a very cold December. With that cold air will come many opportunities for wintry weather. The snow cover will only grow and that will lead to more cold weather into January and February. The monthlies show Jan and Feb will be very cold months across the East.
