Heavy snow will fall across parts of the Northeast today. The higher locations will see the most snow with over 8 inches in some locations. Snow rates will be 1-2 inches per hour with perhaps some thundersnows mixed in. The storm will intensify today with winds picking up over eastern New England and Cape Cod. Winds may gust 40-60 mph with heavy rains. This is an impressive storm which is part of the blocking pattern that has developed. The snow will wind down this evening followed by chilly weather this weekend. Below are the model maps for the snow.
