<title>NWS hedging on tomorrow and Sunday&#039;s storm in the Northeast. Forecast for Litchfield county in CT:
The main challenge with this system then comes daybreak Sunday
as the primary surface low tracks near lakes Erie and Ontario.
There is good agreement of this track in latest deterministic
and ensemble forecasts, though exact positioning remains
uncertain. Regardless, WAA just ahead of the surface low will
bring in temperatures near to just above freezing in the 925-700
hPa layer by early Sunday, allowing for sleet to begin mixing
with the snow. A changeover to freezing rain and all rain is
possible as the warm nose deepens by midday Sunday, especially
across the Mid Hudson Valley, though this will have potential
to be greatly reduced should a secondary coastal low develop
Sunday afternoon as is depicted in the GFS, CMC and ECMWF.
Should this happen, cooler temperatures will help keep snow and
sleet around longer and result in higher accumulations.</title>

<title>Local forecast in CT had us under a Winter storm warning 6-10 inches of snow. Another FLOP: 2 inches with a thin layer of ice on top. Storm was supposed to last till 7-9 AM but was over at 4 AM. NWS blamed extreme dry slot and the upper level low being too strong to make the coastal low take over. Right...OK.</title>

<title>Next storm due Saturday night into Sunday morning in CT looks similar to today but local meteorologists calling for colder solution and moderate to heavy snow. As much as 9&quot; possible in Watertown, CT. Maybe a better organized coastal low and cold air locked in? Either way, February has started in a much more interesting fashion than boring December and January.</title>

<title>Strangest winter we&#039;ve had in a while here in CT and it hasn&#039;t even officially started! AI and most models have become worthless toys to get people excited and send them to the store for milk and bread. I am dating myself but we had a meteorologist on Channel 3 in Hartford, CT in the 70&#039;s named Ken Garee who had very few models to go by and nailed 95% of predicted snowstorms. When other stations were hyping up a storm for 12-18 inches, Ken would predict 4-8 inches and nail it. What happened to that kind of meteorology? Anyone here remember Mr. Garee?</title>
