Polar Vortex Coming?????

I read the story below and a little concern it might be premature given the modeling evidence suggests that the cold is coming by Mid-January. But just how cold and extreme will the weather be remains to be seen. The SOI values have flipped to La Nina which is a better indicator for colder weather in the East and Northeast but below normal snowfall in those areas.

I think through the holidays I think temperatures remains above normal but still a little snow coming through parts of the Great Lakes and Northeast. It may remain mild into January but should switch to colder by mid-month. Not sure how extreme the cold will be yet.
