A Messy Winter Storm Before Thanksgiving Front Page Severe Weather Pro Top Story Weather Madness Pro Discussions Winter Weather Pro Nov 20, 2023 Weather Madness 0 Comment A storm in the Plains Monday will move into the Great Lakes Tuesday. That storm will spread a messy mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain from the Appalachians intro the Northeast and eastern Canada. The ice ahead of the storm will depend just how fast the rain moves into the Appalachians Tuesday morning. While road temperatures are still above freezing, there can be some sleet accumulation on roads that cause icy travel. The heaviest snows will be across northern New York into Quebec and Maine where over 4 inches of snow will accumulate. The storm will hit fast and should be over by Wednesday afternoon so travel will improve for Thanksgiving. The storm will also produce severe storms across the South Monday and Tuesday. Tornadoes are possible across Louisiana and Mississippi. The storms will move into the Southeast Tuesday.
