Wow, what a difference a day makes. They have issued a Winter Storm watch for most of Northern and Central Vermont above 500 feet with 8-18 inches of snow. The Champlain Valley should get 3-6 inches. We will still will get warm temperatures Saturday night into Sunday night with an inch or so of rain, but that is a lot better than 3 inches of rain with slight accumulations on the back side. Accumulations should be stratiform with rain changing to snow at elevation first with minimum damage to the snowpack which presently can absorb a lot of water. Hopefully this will minimize the flood potential. The indices were correct at least for this area with the development of a coastal low. Yahoo
