“ENSO continues to waver on the cold-neutral/La Niña border this week, with NINO 3.4 cooling a tenth of a degree, but the rest of the ENSO regions remaining unchanged. As I suspected, the subsurface is barely supporting a La Niña signal and is now starting to moderate. This is a sign that the trend toward colder anomalies is likely to end in a few weeks. In fact, most of the moderate data support a cold-neutral ENSO state for the whole winter.” from a Met I follow in NJ
” As far as influences on the weather pattern, the monthly average SOI has fallen to a neutral state, as in zero, and the seasonal average isn’t far behind. These signals tell me that the forcing from the tropics is weak. The strongest influence on the SOI is clearly the MJO and not any ENSO evolution. Remember, when ENSO is established, the SOI theme is driven by ENSO while the MJO influences daily values. Right now, there is very little sign of a La Niña influence on the SOI with this neutral state”

What does this mean though I’m confused with what u guys are saying. The weather is going to get colder or what water is getting colder
