The GFS model has remain bullish that a major storm the originates in the tropics comes up the East coast and gets wrapped into the jet stream. The result would be a major storm with heavy rains, high winds and even heavy snows on the backside. The 00z run last night as seen below looked scary with a major snow and over a foot of snow across the Northeast. While all this is speculation right now, on thing going for a major storm is the blocking pattern that has developed. Typically this time of the year you can have big storms with blocking patterns. I would like to see the PNA positive instead of negative to have more confidence is a major storm.
