I am surprised that JB keeps saying the EPO is going positive in 10 or 12 days when the WPO is so negative, and that cool pool northwest of Hawaii argues for low pressure south of Alaska not over it.

I don’t know. I got my information from JB on his website at WeatherBell.com. Regardless the more important thing is the -WPO is forecast to continue which keeps the cold coming for the east after brief warm-ups.
