If rthe CMC pulls this off with all the other models against it, hell the D.C. radio stations are even talking about temperatures in the 60s this weekend, then it is absolutely the undisputed King of the models at least for this winter anyway.
Just notice 00z euro has it back
Hagerstown bottomed out at -1 and now stands at +1 at 8:00A.M.
Good morning. Currently 2 degrees in Hagerstown at 5:30 A.M. Stormy end of the week maybe.
I am not commenting on any model runs before Thursday this week after last week’s boondoggle for the Mid-Atlantic area.
Storm back on 18z GFS for end of next week but take it with a grain of salt. Hagerstown currently 26 degrees with very light snow/flurries making for a glaze on everything. I guess the arctic front has not come through yet since the wind is still out of the south.
New data coming in so not so fast on that supposedly 5-day warm-up next week. Could be cut in half preparing the way for a northeasterner next weekend. Looking more likely than yesterday. WeatherBell.
How many times do I need to say the samething
Well, I think this is happening because the models are not reading this blocking pattern correctly. Maybe?
I think either the models are over doing the warm up because of the SOI values or it’s not going to cool off enough to support a full blown nor easter next weekend and we end up with a massive ice storm instead
Henry has been saying this. That 5 day warm up is crap.
And that is good that someone has enough experience and expertise to buck the system once and a while.
Amen
Another “cool” morning in Hagerstown at 4 degrees.
12z EURO showing a major northeastern next week and this far out already has some other model support.. WeatherBell
Hagerstown finally made it above freezing at 1:00 today. 34 degrees is a virtual heatwave compared to the last 10 days.
How can the EURO have posted a high of 12 for NYC on Sunday Feb. 7 but NOAA has posted a high of 25 for Hagerstown the same day? Seems impossible.
Well Sunday is actually Feb 8 but still.
Hagerstown bottomed out at -3. Currently -2 at 8 A.M.
Hagerstown joins the parade. Currently -1.
According to JB, there will be a couple of chances in the Mid-Atlantic next week for a couple of 2-4 or 3-6 inch snows from clipper systems and I see the 00z runs are showing the same thing not just the GFS.
If CMC continues to show its slide eastward at 12z, then it will be a miss for most everyone. 06z GFS means nothing. There would need to be an abrupt change at 00z and 12z for there to be a chance for a big storm.
This is looking more and more like a potential disaster as far as the Balt/DC area. Baltimore is struggling to recover from 11 inches over this past weekend. I am supposed to bowl in a big duckpin tournament this coming weekend in Baltimore. Over 200 currently signed up to bowl. Weather doesn’t look good.
18z runs are not dependable but, in this case, the 18z GFS has continued its trend west that showed up on its 12z run. Now it brings the snow west as far as Hagerstown. NOAA has posted 30% chance of snow for us when it has nothing this morning. The trend is your friend if you are hoping for a big one in the Mid-Atlantic region.
If they’re going to, we should see other models start trending west by 12Z runs tomorrow.
So far the storm stays in the Mid-Atlantic for a few hours and then it yanked out to see and up the coast…not much extra snow at all as it doesn’t stick around long. Maybe the models will continue to update
I am putting you on the spot Snowman55. Yes or No does Hagerstown get at least several inches of snow out of this particular storm. If you need a crutch, NOAA currently has posted a 30% chance for Saturday night and Sunday. Yes or No?
Hagerstown officially 7 inches and out here west of town about 8. Not a huge storm even though we never had sleet mixing in anywhere to my knowledge. Still only 9 inches total for the season.
Hagerstown, at 4 miles west of town has not had any sleet at my place, and the snow, that lightened up a couple of hours ago continues. Hagerstown now at 7 inches. Temperature at 12 in town. Radar shows a ton of something still to work through this region in the next at least 6-8 hours so perhaps we will make 10 inches when over.
Whitetail 8 inches and still snowing. They have a cool snow measuring board set up that you can observe on their website for snow depth verification.
No sleet at my house so far west of Hagerstown at 12:30P.M. Wind out of the north-northwest gusting to 15 mph. with a temperature of 13 degrees. Light snow continues.
