GFS 18z just went full Superstorm of 1993 mode on us for Feb 1st/2nd. Not buying in but still fun to see
Haven’t seen any models show this and we are talking a week away.
CMC has it also. But let’s “plow” through this one first.
For those clinging to hope you can have fun looking at the 12Z Canadian. In all likelihood not going to happen, but if it did it’s comparable to the barometric pressure of the March 93 storm..
12z &18z gfs have a storm
Not saying it’s going to happen, but the indices are not the end-all-be-all. Look what happened in March of 1993, we actually had a slightly positive NAO and had one of the biggest storms in a century. As we’ve seen all winter, the actual weather hasn’t been playing nicely with what the indices say should be happening
1 inch of snow, rest sleet and ice here in Albany. New Orleans has had a bigger single snow event during 2024-25 than we have.

New Orleans has had a bigger single-snow event than here in Albany NY for the entire winter.
Henry, have you taken into consideration the MJO? I know last year you mentioned the MJO was one of the big reasons for a relatively snow-less winter in the I-95 corridor and no big coastal storms. Some are also saying the MJO is the primary driving factor for such a lull in the Atlantic hurricane development
loved the dialogue on climate change. Specifically the point about how they are always trying to make it seem like we are all going to die next week if we don’t do something. But that’s the strategy isn’t it? Create a crisis to push through legislation and also use the fabricated crisis to label your opponents as ‘deniers’
