At 14:00 PDT, we stand at 105 deg at my place, airport at 109. We have more extensive cumulus today, mainly in the easter sky. The monsoonal plumes of moisture that often stream through AZ and NM seldom make it into southern NV during the summer, but if a tropical system in the Eastern Pacific recurves into Baja California, that can bring us some summer thunderstorms. Locals tell me thunderstorms are relatively infrequent here.
That is correct. Even when I lived in Sonoma County in Northern CA, thunderstorms would develop a few times over the Mayacama Mountains in summer. I could see the tops from the Sonoma Valley where I lived. Sometimes they would last into evening and you could watch the distant lightning.
