This week we take a breather from severe storms, for the most part. We shift are attention to the tropics firing up. Looking at the models I’m not sure anything will be definitive other than some heavy rainfall from the system out of...

We love the cool pattern we’re in, cause we know the 80-90s are lurking in the long range. With the ridge over the East, is that a pattern for derechos as the heat builds in the East? Curious. Also, we like to hear your ideas about the winter! Mother Nature is the deciding final word, after all. I don’t like a winter with no snow or cold but…Read More

Pretty uneventful storms that passed in the am and now in the afternoon. NW Burbs lucked out with just some heavy rain. The South suburbs got a little bit of hail haha
Wow! That was quite a hail storm!
Crazy picture of a Tornado crossing all lanes of I-80 in Lincoln NE today
I hope that dude has his breaks on.
Should be an interesting start to the weekend with all these storms rolling in.

Beautiful spring day day in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia high of 69 low of 34. I put it off as long as I could, but I fired the lawn mower up today and mowed part of the yard, I like to wait till first of April to mow yard for the first time. This year it couldn’t wait that long. If things go as planned I hope to be in Texas first week end of…Read More

Superstorm 1993 in State College. 28″ if I recall correctly. That’s me in our driveway (holding a meterestick) down to the underground mini garage for our apartment building. Not seen in picture is about 10 feet up the driveway, our neighbor’s Volkswagon Rabbit, which they tried to drive out in the snow when it was only a few inches got stuck…Read More
Those were the good old days when winters storms on the east coast where still happening…little did we know it wall starting to come to an end…but pictures like this are good to have for memories
I remember that storm well. I was actually snowed into my apartment since the snow had drifted around the house where I where my apartment was and I had to call the landlord to allow me to access the house to exit the place. What a storm!

I’m with Henry…I think climate change has affected the winters on the east coast. Not to say we won’t get snow but maybe we just need to lower our expectations moving forward. I mean I have said this since the beginning of the winter season that I didn’t think this El Niño was going to impact our winter like it used to back in the day, ended…Read More
Yup. But hey at least we have seen storms like the 1993 super storm so I’m good …not like I’ve never seen a blizzard before
Sea surface temps in the MDR are already at the temps they are in July! That is insane and looks like Henry youre going to very busy this summer and fall.. JB already predicting a hurricane season from hell.. not good
Yeah but most of the time the Mid-Atlantic is spared from any major hurricane activity at least over the last few years anyway, it’s been mostly the south east coast effected by hurricanes
True dat.. but look what Sandy did and besides.. its almost always the rain that devastates the mid atlantic.. like an Agnes or Irene etc
