Did some NAO history from 1950-2025 on the NOAA site…Seems the biggest Nor’easters occurred when the NAO was -2.5 to -3…Not even close this winter so far…The NAO is affected by the North Atlantic Sea temperatures, either Negative or Positive…
-3 is strong blocking.
Not sure I ever remember -3 but only been checking the Indices for around15 years.
NAO rules the roost historically from February through March.
Henry, aren’t the MJO 3-6 Warm phases, and 8,1,2 ,are the Cold ones for the East??
They look cold to me.
