• Things don’t usually work out for Hagerstown when WS or WA are posted. We almost always end up on the low side it when it’s all over. However, with the temp. profiles AccuWeather has posted for Friday night and Friday, there is a fair chance right along the MDL we stay mostly all snow and sleet and no FR. At least it will be something to talk…Read More

  • NOAA in afternoon update using 12Z data has lowered temperature for Hagerstown again for the Friday-Friday night event. Looks like arctic air or C/D winning out east of the mountains this time around. Any further shift south will bring Hagerstown into all snow instead of a wintery mix.

  • 12Z GFS in. Snowstorm for the Mid-Atlantic as trend continues to move the snow line further south. Lets see if NOAA updates its forecast this afternoon to reflect this. Afterall it is the GFS but then again it is a 12Z run and almost within the window of better predictability.

  • Trough NW of Hawaii and trough in Europe does not equate to a ridge over the NE. Euro is incorrect to show it that way. WeatherBell this morning.

  • NOAA trying to cover their tails in explaining how they had posted a high in the sixties on Friday and now are saying in the low thirties with wintery precipitation. Thery are saying it was incomplete guidance. HO, HO, HO.

  • Whitetail, 15 minutes from me must be using a different weather group to make their forecast than NOAA because they have a high on Friday of 33 with a mix while Hagerstown via NOAA has posted 43 with rain for Hagerstown.

    • Could be but not likely 10+ degrees. A better understanding may be with Bernie on Accuweather this afternoon. Whitetail is just using a different model like he explained.

  • Radar sure looks like precipitation moving in soon for Hagerstown. Current temp is 33. NOAA says 50% chance of wintery mix tonight.

  • 12Z GFS showing 10 inches of snow on the ground the 27th-28 of Dec. for Hagerstown while NOAA at the same time has posted 55-60 temperatures. So, what is 25-30 degrees differences among friends?

  • Mid-Atlantic folks I wouldn’t get too excited looking at the 06Z GFS this morning. Self-explanatory.

  • 12Z CMC showing a deep eastern trough on the twenty-ninth of this month which makes sense since Europe has turned cold and that usually shows up in the east 10-14 days later.

  • Snowshoe currently reporting 17 degrees and have measured 26 inches of snow thus far this season. A beautful mountain ski resort in the winter only 3 hours from D.C.

  • Hagerstown 10 degree drop the last 20 minutes. Temperature heading down too low to mid 20s tonight enhancing snowmaking for Whitetail which opens tomorrow for the season.

  • Looks like rain moves out of my area on Friday with temperature falling back into mid-twenties Friday night. Great skiing weather this weekend, high 30’s low 20’s, for Whitetail which opens this weekend. Whitetail is 11 miles from my house which is on the Old National Pike 4 miles west of Hagerstown and 3.5 miles south of the MD/PA border.

  • CMC joins the parade for snow in Mid-Atlantic in th Dec. 24-26 time frame. Heck of a way to run a warm-up.

  • Looks like NOAA has dropped temperatures a good 10 t0 15 degrees for the moderation period coming from mid 50’s to low to mid 40s for Hagerstown almost up to Christmas. JB had pointed this out as a possibility a few days ago when most of the model worshippers on here were throwing in the towel for the whole winter. As always time will tell not…Read More

  • I can’t remember the last time this time of the year the sun has been up for 2 hours and the temperature hasn’t budged from its morning low. Currently holding at 15 in Hagerstown for the last 2-3 hours.

  • Oakland Md. currently 3 degrees with snow and a wind chill of -15. NOAA had posted a high of 12. Call me a skeptic but I don’t think they are going to make it.

  • With the EUR0 showing a return to phase 8 over the holidays, the indices will follow, therefore any warmup experienced in the 6-10 will be transitory as long as the WPO holds negative.

  • Hagerstown officially 1.2 inches but at my house 4 miles west of town not even enough to cover the grass in a thin layer. Temperature 24.
