An Ohio Blizzard
Central Ohio ripped off again. Less than 3 inches on the ground when predictions were for at least 8″. Storm went into the Cincinnati gutter south of us.
Be patient. Upper level feature will work through this afternoon with more snow on tap.
Oh, I’m still a believer. A bit jaded, perhaps, but a believer nonetheless. Thx for the prop.
Bought my son a snowblower for Christmas based on Henry’s prognostication. Everybody laughed at me because this part of OH hasn’t seen a plow-worthy event in decades. Who’s laughing now? Thanks Henry.
1″ in central OH produced whiteout conditions for a while.
Congrats once again snowwise from those of us stuck in central OH

Front lawn finally gets covered (barely). Yahoo central Ohio.
It’s my house.
And if you believe that, I’ve got oceanfront property to show you here in Ohio. Actually, it’s the Granville Inn
A couple of weeks ago I asked for someone to explain the bowling alley in central Ohio where major snowstorms always go into the gutters east, north, west, or south of us. No one offered any enlightenment.
However, i did dig up a video that did a great job of explaining the blizzards that hit the midwest and east from 1976-78, which allowed me…Read More
Video brought back many memories. I was then living near Providence in 1978 and have my “I Survived” bumper sticker and Blizzard Book (published by the Providence Journal) to prove it!
Rhode Island 1978 – that’s a VW Bug that got stuck in the snow.
I was in Boston in 1978, attending the Beanpot ice hockey tournament. Made it home on the last train that made it out of Boston or I’d have been stuck in Boston garden for days
Can someone please tell me why snowstorms always pass north, south, east, or west of central Ohio. Over my 30 years living here, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Cincinnati have been pounded. Columbus, pretty much nada. Is it the Appalachians? If so, why not north or south of us.
Remember, I am as a first grader.
I am not far from you in Ohio and I notice the same thing. There always seems to be a circle of NO SNOW from Columbus to Akron to Youngstown to some point south. Cleveland gets all the lake effect and many storms ride right up the Ohio river for Cincy, but there is a dead zone in the middle. Henry, can you enlighten us, please?
