• Good morning Henry. I have a thought after watching this morning’s videos. Since you are now standing instead of sitting, you might want to wear sneakers or slippers. I can hear your feet squeak when you take steps.😂😂

  • Finally, rain has changed to snow and the temp has dropped 2 degrees in the last half hour in Frederick County, MD. NWS is maintaining their 3” to 6” forecast. According to NWS, our area should be affected by the Norlun Trough that will be setting up. They also mentioned that the center of low pressure was a little farther east than modeled.

  • Well, ask and you shall receive. NWS, Sterling just upgraded our forecast from Watch to Warning. A little “meh” on the accumulation totals-3” to 6”.

Gettysburg is only 30 miles due north of my location (Frederick, MD). They’re calling for 6” to 12” there. • 9:30 Forecast Discussion from NWS Sterling, VA indicated that the Canadian and European models have trended the storm west but show the low pressure area 300 miles from DC. If we want more of the white stuff here in central Maryland, that LP has to shift much farther west.

  • NWS just posted a WS Watch for central Maryland. 5” or more of snow.

    • However, if the models trend further west tonight then tomorrow morning it will be extended further northwest.

    • Agreed on that Duck. You read my mind.

  • Below, I posted the 2:45 AM forecast discussion from the Baltimore-Washington NWS office. I hope Henry doesn’t mind.

Nothing has changed in terms of the pattern for a storm along
the Eastern Seaboard this wknd. A 50/50 low & -NAO, Idaho Ridge,
blocking over the Hudson Bay, and trough moving into the east

  • I was hoping that this might be the year when winter returns to one of the east coast’s notorious “snow holes”-Frederick County, MD! So, I rejoined Henry’s WeatherMadness site after about a 2 year absence. I’m anxious to see how January and February turn out snow wise and cold wise. We’ve definitely had a cold December and we did have a quickie…Read More
