Already 60° and sunny this morning in NC. Heading into the seventies today.
19° in Winston-Salem this morning. Still snow patches on the ground, but we’ll get above freezing today…or so they say.
My cousin reported 4” snow in Beaufort (pronounced Bowfort) NC on the coast.
He just amended the amount to almost 6” and still snowing.
FYI, I was living in Miami in 1975-6 and saw it snow there. It didn’t stick, of course, but all the transplanted northerners got their furs out of cold storage.
Not to mention the blizzard of 73, when my cousins saw 11” in Charleston, and my hometown of Sumter, SC got 24”.
15° for a low in Winston-Salem today. Not as cold as some of y’all, but pretty cold for us.
42° and very foggy in Winston-Salem, NC. Still some patches of snow on the ground from last Saturday. It usually doesn’t linger in these parts.

The snow has reached Winston-Salem & is sticking. I-85 20 miles south of here is already covered.

It’s been 10 years since the i-81 corridor from Winchester to Chambersburg has met its 100year average of snowfall in any one season.
Looks like the models are bringing back the Halloween snow storm- for now.
What storm there is no storm on the models including 12z and now 18z
Whatever the category of Helene, the effects on western North Carolina have been devastating. Asheville is cut off except by air. Boone, Blowing Rock and other towns are under water. I-40 was washed out at the NC-Tenn border.
