The anomaly is slightly positive, but enough to support the other cryographic and stratospheric anomalies to support a sustained weak and disrupted Polar Vortex for this winter.
2013-14, 1985-86, 2000-01 are good analogs for this upcoming winter. I like the potential for a good winter ahead!

” The latest ENSO data points to a cold-neutral state, rising above the La Niña criteria. However, the CPC is keeping the La Niña advisory as they feel that La Niña conditions will be in place again through the rest of October and November. The reality is that whether ENSO is cold-neutral or La Niña, the atm…Read More

Did Henry say, No videos till I come back from Arizona?
“ENSO continues to waver on the cold-neutral/La Niña border this week, with NINO 3.4 cooling a tenth of a degree, but the rest of the ENSO regions remaining unchanged. As I suspected, the subsurface is barely supporting a La Niña signal and is now starting to moderate. This is a sign that the trend toward colder anomalies is likely to end in a f…Read More
” As far as influences on the weather pattern, the monthly average SOI has fallen to a neutral state, as in zero, and the seasonal average isn’t far behind. These signals tell me that the forcing from the tropics is weak. The strongest influence on the SOI is clearly the MJO and not any ENSO evolution. Remember, when ENSO is established, the S…Read More

It happened about 4 years ago in the middle of April at my house as roofers were working on my roof. 4.5 inches of snow officially for Hagerstown.
We know you said the same thing 3 days ago
Correct and it bears repeating that once in a while it snows in the Hagerstown area in April. Fact.
We might get a little snow. We average .01″ in April since 1970. But all my life we never had any storm like that in April in Central PA. That’s including the 70’s and early 90’s.
Bring it!!
