Any early indication of how bad this upcoming heat dome will affect the north east? Early forecasts were for a cool down but now a heat wave is being hyped.
101 at my house in Elmira Heights, NY!
Wow! I used to live near there…Pine City. Temps would often drop 5 degrees going a bit up into the hills.
Could all you folks who post their weather conditions please indicate where they are located!
Agreed. It’s frustrating to hear about an interesting weather event and have no idea where it happened.
Forecast for Elmira, NY is heavy snow Saturday night but we only have a WWA. Not sure how NOAA decides the weather conditions. Seems haphazard.
Ha anyone seen yet that this is all caused by “global warming”?
Henry, what are your thoughts on the term “bomb cyclone”? I got this from What’s Up With That -“This “bomb cyclone” – a term used when a storm’s central pressure drops at least 24 millibars in 24 hours. Is this a legitimate weather term?
Henry, I want your weather wisdom, not politics and off the wall opinions. Could you please rein in the folks who add nothing to the weather discussion?
Henry doesn’t have time to police trolls…they are everywhere if you don’t like whats on this thread just don’t login to the thread it’s that easy. Trolls are the cost of having a thread
I will take care of it.
47 degrees out and just had a heavy blast of sleet in Elmira Heights, NY
Looking at the latest radar, the eye seems to have filled and Milton is looking a little ragged.
WAWA’s are out of gas. shutting down stores
You would to if you were being eroded away by wind shear.
What’s your latest track Henry?
My track is still into Tampa Bay as a Cat 3
Interesting. Seems to agree with you Henry.
Any updates on the next long range forecast Henry?
I totally forgot to do it this month. I will get it done.
The Inverse Law of Meteorological Prognostication. This states that the higher the chance of a weather event occurring, the lower the odds are that it actually will and vice versa. Simply put, if the forecast calls for an 80% chance of rain it will actually only rain 20% of the time but if the prediction is for a 10% chance of a weather event,…Read More
Around April 27, 1984 western South Dakota got hammered by a massive snow storm. We had arrived at Ellsworth AFB near Rapid City in June 83 and were warned about winters. I remember using pliers to pull the studs from my tires in mid April (I was a young Airman and didn’t have regular tires). The storm hit so hard power was out in base housing and…Read More

So far the National Weather Service is pretty much ignoring the storm for the Southern Tier of NY.
Sorry to ask Henry, but could you find someone to proof read your postings? There are times when I have to do a double take on what you just said!
Or, “Henry, please read your post thoroughly before hitting send.”Lol.
21 degrees in Elmira Heights, NY
