“Breaking Down the Madness in Every Storm.”

We have had a string of relatively mild weather in the Las Vegas area the past several days, except for the gusty winds from time to time. Yesterday, winds gusted into the 40+mph range with overcast skies. Henry mentioned a storm report for wind near Las Vegas, but those storms were in the mountains west of here and not over the Las Vegas Valley.…Read More
Scattered showers continue over the Las Vegas Valley and much of the Southwest today. We are getting moderate rain at my location as of 15:15 PDT with a temperature of 62 deg. The upper low is spinning over AZ now and heading northeast out of the area. By Thursday, temperatures will be up into the low 90s and remain warm until the weekend. So far,…Read More
The upper level low has produced showery weather over much of the Southwest since last night. Our temperatures here have been in the low to mid 60s much of the day. More showers are expected over the Las Vegas Valley tomorrow before the low moves out. After that, we will see a rapid warm up by mid-week with temps getting into the upper 80s.
The Southwest is getting another pre-summer warm up again with 90+ temps expected this week before a cool down by early next week to seasonable values.
March went out like a lion with very strong gusty winds last night in the Las Vegas Valley. A high wind warning has been issued, but looking at the obs, I didn’t see gust much above 45 mph. Still, it was very windy with some desert dust blowing in. Much cooler today with the passage of the front. Yesterday it was in the mid 70s, while today it is…Read More
We have had a rapid pre-summer warm up in the Southwest the past couple of days, Yesterday we had the earliest 90 deg. day in the Las Vegas Valley. Today is much cooler as a cold front passes through which will drop temps to seasonable levels and usher in strong winds.
A significant warm up is in store for the Las Vegas Valley in the coming days. It seems like we go from cool to almost summer-like temps in just a few days. By the middle of next week, we could be pushing 90 deg!
Another windy day is in store for the Las Vegas Valley and much of the Southwest today. Yesterday there were gusts upwards of 45 mph. Last night we did get some showers before more wind whipped in behind them. Winds did decouple some overnight, but have picked up again, though not as strong as yesterday.
The weather in the Las Vegas Valley started off with overcast skies early this morning while the L.A. area received heavy rainfall. I could see that the Spring Mountains were getting some fresh snowfall, but the moisture dried up before arriving here other than a few quick sprinkles. Currently it is partly cloudy and very windy with a temperature…Read More
The past couple of days have been warming up in the Las Vegas Valley. Today we had a high of 79 deg and the trend continues for most of the week before a gradual cool down later in the week and into the weekend. This is our spring transition before it gets very warm and the quite hot for the beginning of summer later in the season. But, until…Read More
Had to supervise recess today, and it was WARM…….almost hot on the east side….school weather station said 86!
any thoughts on March…I’m leaning towards cooler with a little more rain based on models and the indices..
After 215 days with no measurable rainfall, the Las Vegas Valley is finally getting some rain. Currently 43 deg. at my location, and there will be plenty of new snow in the mountains with this system. Expected rainfall totals in the valley are expected to be from 0.4 to 0.6 inch range.
Unfortunately, getting a strong enough Pacific storm to…Read More
We started with a sunny morning in the Las Vegas Valley, but it has since become overcast, and though the radar shows showers, this is all aloft. Nothing is reaching the ground at my location. Temps remain seasonally cool, but a warm up is expected later in the week and the weekend where we could reach highs in the upper 60s.
Even the Las Vegas Valley has cooled down quite a bit in the past several days. The minimum temperature this morning was in the mid-30s and out high is expected to be in the low to mid 50s. Yesterday it only got to 52 here in the west end of Spring Valley. It was quite windy here yesterday but that has relaxed here today. Unfortunately, winds…Read More
Good thing I brought my winter coat…………….
It is another gusty day here in the Las Vegas Valley with wind gusts up to 30 mph. But the winds are also still very strong in S. Cal. which is not good news to the fires out there. I do hope these winds relax soon. Short range models seem to indicate this should be the case.
Current radar shows precipitation over southern Nevada, but most of this is virga. Nothing is reaching the ground at my location. But the big story is the wind picking up later today and lasting through Thursday morning. Current temperature here is 57 deg. with the winds gusting to 25 mph as of 08:00 PST.
I’m back for two months…can’t tell you how glad I am to see the warm sun (well, warmer than TN!) I’ll take the winds…makes the kids crazy but better than snow and ice!
Welcome home. I agree, I’m done with the snow and ice of the Northeast as well.
It has been a while since I posted because there really has not been much weatherwise to talk about here. Most of the active weather has been in the northern tier states in the West (N. Cal. and Pac. NW) and the East. But, while the East is bitter cold as of late, here in the Las Vegas Valley, we have had mostly clear to sometimes partly cloudy…Read More
I agree David. I have lost my interest in cold weather
After this morning’s near zero, I (and my dog!) agree too. Dogs are smart – she found the”right spot” in record time and was back in the house in less than a minute.
😂🤣 smart pup…
It continues to be cool in the Las Vegas valley with some cloudy conditions that past couple of days. No rainfall, but we have had some colorful sunrises and sunsets with the clouds.
Pretty
An update from the Las Vegas Valley: It has been quite cool for the past several days as several cold fronts have passed through the West. Here, the overnight low temps have been in the low to mid 40s with highs in the mid 60s. A gradual warm up is expected this week where we should get to the low 70s for a few days before the next cold front…Read More
We have a very fall-like day in the Las Vegas Valley today. Winds remain gusty but not as strong as yesterday and last night. Current temperature is 60 deg as of 15:00 PDT. Lows tonight are expected to be in the low to mid 40s which has not been observed since very late winter/early spring. Quite a rapid change from only a few days ago. The…Read More
A strong cold front is moving through the Las Vegas Valley this morning ushering in much cooler temperatures. Radar has shown precip, but nothing reached the ground here; it is all virga, at least in western Spring Valley. Some areas may have gotten some sprinkles very early this morning.
Tomorrow the high is only expected to be around 67,…Read More
