Hi Henry. Looks like we may have a pattern shift coming around mid month. The trend seems to suggest a ridge in the East and a trough in the west. What are your thoughts on all of this?

Interesting. PJM (power grid manager for mid Atlantic States) had a maximum generation alert meaning the power grid “might” not have enough power to distribute. I am wondering why the public was not informed. http://www.pjm.com

Indiana, PA: went to -8 last night. Actually 2 degrees above dew point. Also, with the cold temps the 10 inches of snow we got have not melted at all. The Mon/Ohio rivers have frozen over. River police won’t allow traffic on the rivers without prior permission. There’s going to be some major flooding when we get a thaw.
On the discussion of Accuweather founders (Myers, Abrams, Bastardi,etc) I listened to KYW on the 7’s to hear them describe the weather rather than the rip and read announcers back in the early 70s (im 67 now). Yes. yes. I was too young for Wally but I liked Dr. Francis Davis. Even interviewed with him at my application to Drexel. I didn’t go. My first WX storm I got in love with wx was the Dec 24th 66 storm. I saw 3x thundersnow events. I have seen 1 since. KPHL officially got 12.6 inches of snow. I was hooked.
At 6:40am I have -5 and KIDI airport is reporting (through ATIS) -10 degrees here in Indiana, PA

I see lots of good observation by “us on model runs but like Henry has said “windshield washer” modeling. IMHO 2 days out nails it.
Just my two cents living in KPHL for 45 years……………..Models lose their minds 2 days out and then nail it. 1993 1978 1983, etc. Living in KPIT area I will miss the “slam” you guys get. I now live in Indiana PA. A huge snow storm is 8-10 inches.
