Snow and wind are finally winding down. This “White Watson” storm, as Henry might say, is finally on its way east. In the picture at my house below, the orange stakes are 5 feet tall…. —Dan Zwicker, Sierra Spy, South Lake Tahoe, Ca.

When I was younger and lived outside of Boston I ran a pool predicting the date when a certain large pile of snow would disappear.. Suggest that those of you about to receive more snow might do the same and take the long view. given henry’s guidance.

If this particular system slides through our area without any substantial rains the end of the growing season will be upon us early this season. Very early. You can’t go week after week with very high temperature and no moisture without there being a huge impact on the vegetation.
Well the first batch looked promising but then at the last second it sunk south of Hagerstown. Hagerstown reports 0.00 inches of rain so far today. Down sloping does its dirty work again.
At 7;00 P.M., Hagerstown sounds the “all clear”. Total rainfall today 0.00 inches.

Next storm due Saturday night into Sunday morning in CT looks similar to today but local meteorologists calling for colder solution and moderate to heavy snow. As much as 9″ possible in Watertown, CT. Maybe a better organized coastal low and cold air locked in? Either way, February has started in a much more interesting fashion than boring…Read More

I am surprised that JB keeps saying the EPO is going positive in 10 or 12 days when the WPO is so negative, and that cool pool northwest of Hawaii argues for low pressure south of Alaska not over it.
No, the MJO responds to the other factors, it doesn’t drive them. Source of my information is WeatherBell.com.
I don’t know. I got my information from JB on his website at WeatherBell.com. Regardless the more important thing is the -WPO is forecast to continue which keeps the cold coming for the east after brief warm-ups.
