18z GFS has 960 millibar low off the jersey coast….thats 60 to 90 mph winds with 36 inches of snow…the Canadian has it also…..
its happened before, 1888…1993……..?
Hope not…
I said this 3 days ago, this looked like the same setup as the 1996 storm, multiple areas of low pressure in the Mississippi valley, massive arctic air intrusion , energy transfer to the coast, 15 to1 ratio snows, buried Philly with 30 inches…..they were calling for 12 to 18 then….
This weekend setup is reminiscent of the 1996 storm that buried the mid Atlantic…….
Hope it is not one of those deals where there is a sharp gradient to the northwest and Hagerstown gets screwed again.
Ducky, you are such a loveable Debbie Downer. Bet you get more snow than 43023.
43023 ? Is that his prison # ID?
No its not..not even close..that storm was a classic nor’easter up the coast..
Is that from the weather channel?
don’t hold back Henry……..
even Bernie blue a gasket talking about Sat/Sun for mid/atlantic……..
Where do you find his update? I didn’t see it on their home page.
One of the best forecasters in the country…………..
its definitely going to occur, just when it will occur…..has been very lean on textbook nor’easter’s, past several years, but it’s fun when they show up…………
Elliot Abrahms, Paul Kocin and Henry………..my go to’s since 1978
Henry, Joe B and Elliott was my go to guys. Elliott was a hoot.
Add Wally Kinnan, Francis Davis, (Philly market 1960s), Glen Schwartz (Phiily 1990s-2020s), Don Kent, Stuart Soroka, and John Ghiorsi (Boston and Providence 1970s). And of course Elliot, Joe B and Henry (AW 1970s -on). I’ve been following weather since the Dec 1960 east coast blizzard, and these are the Great Ones!
did we forget the 2015 storm, the winter of 2010 snow records everywhere……The 2003 storm, the great blizzard of 1996……and the 1993 storm was early March……
Yes, would like to know the NAO,PNA,and the AO were when those storms hit, if that’s possible now..
Henry, You make winter fun for snow lovers, I would only watch you or Elliot’s forecasts at accu weather, just outside Philly…always a tough forecast…
Loved listening to Elliot’s forecast back in the day
I remember golfing with him a couple times in a League. He was a hoot.
Remember the date of the 93 superstorm……………3/12/93………..
Ive enjoyed listening to several meteorologists through the years….Elliot Abrahams, Paul Kocin and Henry …………
Loved Henry at accu-weather and love weather madness even more ………he makes weather exciting an enjoyable…..keep up the great work………….
This website is the best part of winter….Henry is a true meteorologist and weather junkie…..I started with Elliott Abrahams and Paul Kocin…..in the 70’s …..Henry is in there company………..
so you think the EURO has it wrong…… I love the snow map……….
just looked at the 06 Z NAM, I am just north of PHILLY….expecting 1.09 inches of liquid @ 20 degrees you would have 20 to 1 snow ratio which equals 21.8 inches of snow….with 30 to 40 mph winds Blizzard warnings should shift west to encompass all of Philly metro area tomorrow morning……..
00z NAM is creeping back to the west….maybe its a trend
Henry, you were right last week when this was showing up without blocking….. just have to wait for the next one…..
