The SOI value is why the models are now running warm and the tele-connections are flipping warm now.

Unusual for NOAA to ring the warning bell about 5 days from a possible winter storm in our area unless the trend was our friend. i also see their projected highs for Hagerstown are 15-20 next weekend. A major winter storm is brewing for the Mid-Atlantic with cold air in place. It’s about time!

What a joke these model huggers are. 6 hours before the event (which Henry said was a possibility) Winter weather advisory’s are just now up for the lower Susquehanna valley. 1 to 3 inches now predicted. Is it just me or did these so-called Mets take a step backwards the last 20 years by just watching the models go back and forth. This criticism i…Read More

In two storms, one over Christmas and one over New Years, the Sierra snow season is back on track. 100 to 150 inches of snow (measured at 8000 ft) at various areas around the Lake Tahoe basin. Photos from 10,000 and 8500 ft at Heavenly ski resort. Dan Zwicker, Sierra Spy

Great long rang video yesterday Henry. Honeslty I could care less about snow this winter, just be cold enough to keep the grass asleep and the bugs away so I can enjoy my blackstone griddle and firepit and I’m good for the winter. Snow would be a plus as far as I’m concerned but not a big deal

Yesterday there were thunderstorms in the mountains to the west and into Southern CA. I took the attached photo late yesterday afternoon. It was overcast in the Las Vegas Valley all day which kept.temperatures down with high temps mainly in the upper 80s or low 90s. Last night, we did get some showers here and now the sun is back as of 13:30 PDT,…Read More
Hi Henry- would you include a little segment in your long range video explaining the MJO and how it drives tropical storms for the US? Thanks!

Henry, Enjoy time with your family.Doing great job covering happenings each day. You are using years of experience and knowledge to convey what is happening and ahead. Old weather world approach vs the scattered brained Weather Bell compadrie . Too bad Accuweather went off rails with social media and climate change?? If I hear one more person on…Read More

Could all you folks who post their weather conditions please indicate where they are located!
Agreed. It’s frustrating to hear about an interesting weather event and have no idea where it happened.

-12 (-31 windchill) currently near Minneapolis. Looking for a high of -4 today with windchills -35 tonight
It’s a slider folks not a big daddy unfortunately the GFS was right. Maybe next time.
….I’ll believe it when I’m shoveling it
GFS showing this for 3 straight runs now as we enter the window of probability for later this week. NWS has blinked first and changed their forecast for Thursday going from rain in the 40’s to now a 60% chance of snow/sleet and temperatures in the 30’s for Hagerstown. Currently 20 degrees at my house just 4 miles west of town on the Old National Pike.
Yeah but I still think this is way over done
There has probably been a slide southward of disturbances of at least 75-100 miles in the upcoming 6-10 as compared to last week’s forecast.
