Wow that really was a bad storm and with 80MPH wind gusts and 10 to 50 foot drifts to boot. Sounds like this storm won’t be as extreme but extreme enough wreak havoc.

25° in Winston-Salem. Hoping to get out of my driveway today ( can’t shovel ice at my age) and get to the store to prep for our coming snow storm. I scattered mulch on the ice and let the sun do its thing to melt it- and it worked.
5 degrees in Hagerstown and I haven’t observed any melting yet today.
Sun? i haven’t seen the sun in over a week. it is snowing today just like it snowed yesterday, just like it snowed the day before.

Got roughly 12″ with 1.28″ of moisture with this storm. I’m good for the winter. lol We got our one big storm no need for anymore.

Just removed all the roof panels off my gazebo,.. instructions say it can’t hold more than 5″ of snow
I just finish putting together the new 48″ snow blower attachment for my tractor. What a pain.

This weekend setup is reminiscent of the 1996 storm that buried the mid Atlantic…….
Hope it is not one of those deals where there is a sharp gradient to the northwest and Hagerstown gets screwed again.

My yard is greening up fast and will need mowed in the next 4-5 days. I want it looking nice and pretty to receive all the snow we will be getting in the next two weeks.

So we may be low 40s in Philly/South Jersey where I live on Sunday and Monday,. It’s been so cold out here it will feel good. I can’t remember the last time I was excited for 40 degrees

Storm on 19-20 now back on GFS 12Z radar and showing a northward trend. Hagerstown now back in the loop for snow. If phasing occurs causing a deepening trough on the east coast, it could be a big storm for the Mid-Atlantic north.
Yeah hoping the blocking shows up in time so I can deepen and actually produce snow and not cold rain

The sky is starting to brighten and it 6:38 am.
from Nov 21 to Jan 21 i get no unfiltered sunshine. it is below the tree line at my house. At the start of Feb it comes back above the trees and is now 3 degrees higher then it was at the beginning of the month. By March 1 it will be 5 degrees higher then it is today.

The overall tone of the GFS is like it’s about to show something big….like 1993 superstorm big
I recall that the Mar 93 storm was consistent on all the major models almost a week ahead. A Philly TV meteorologist was vacationing in the Islands and cut his trip short to fly back so he wouldn’t miss the “storm of the century”
