Wow what a storm. Hope you all being hit are safe. I am sitting pretty here in Rochester with only a couple of inches of snow. I have a brother in New Jersey and have not heard from him and I know there are a lot of power outages there and in Massachusetts and other places. Anyone hear from Natalie in Westchester? Hope she is OK.
Nat posted a pic below. Looks like 18 inches
Thanks
This was released from the NY Post about 20 minutes ago. Wow.
A lot of people in NYC that saw this are saying g “now he’s a meteorolgist” which is the first thing I thought and a lot of people commented will he impose a snow tax? The most important thing of course is how will this get handled. We will see.
He also said to use your hammer and sickle to shovel the snow😂
Wow what a storm this is going to be and who thought the GFS would be the leader this time. Know some people in NYC and gave then a heads up with what Henery has been saying all along and they are all stocked up with essentials for a while and worry about how this storm will be cleaned up when all is set and done, like Henry also said. I…Read More
Wow last night was wild with the thunderstorm south of Buffalo with freezing rain which ended up in Rochester but much lighter and the rumbles stayed to the south. This is a picture of my local meteorologist reporting on it last night and I took a whole video on him talking about in his 20 years of meteorology he has never seen this before. Could…Read More
Wow what a day here in Rochester! Started off this morning with dense fog then we received rain, sleet then freezing rain. There was a recent severe thunderstorm warning south of Buffalo with actual freezing rain without it and it is headed for Rochester which will have rumbles of thunder with some freezing rain in a weakened state but we have…Read More
I meant to say freezing rain with it but I don’t think you can edit your post on here
No you have to delete it and re-post or reply with a correction.
Punxsutawney Phil out on work release while serving time for his predictions of 8+ more weeks of winter!
10 years ago Rochester received 18.3 inches of snow which still holds the record for most snowfall on this day in February. Interested to see what March will bring and the possible modoki El Nino for next winter.
Thought i would share the Eastern US Seasonal snowfall as of yesterday in the big cities. Can’t believe I am number 3 this year thus far. I would only share something like this from NOAA as I know it is at least accurate! Have a good day all and enjoy the warm up.
Great information, thank you! A lot of cities above normal but Albany, NY normal snowfall of 9.8″ can’t be right.
Yes just noticed that it’s definitely a mistake
I just found out that for Albany the 9.8 inches is the amount above normal to this date, the departure
I think that’s supposed to be 59.8″.
Ah, ok. It just doesn’t follow the layout of the rest of the cities. Either way, above normal to date.
Don’t see State College. Oh well I think they only have around 24″ this winter. But here is another go link. https://www.weather.gov/wrh/Climate?wfo=ctp
State College is not considered a big city, but as a medium sized borough as NOAA for these seasonal snowfall reports for the East are for the bigger cities.
Yeah I figured that till I saw Avoca PA population around 2500.
Thank you for sharing
You are so welcome! I hope you have a great weekend!
Thanks for sharing! Wow Rochester, Buffalo, and even Albany. Bridgeport CT probably closest to me.
You are welcome! We still have some time to go before the end of the season like Henry keeps telling us.
Well here in Rochester we officially received 1little over 100 inches for the season. Can spring start now LOL
Rochester has officially received 98,1 inches of snow for the season as of this morning. Could hit the 100 inchmark today depending on the remaining snow showers that falls today. Our normal snowfall for the season is 101 inches. The all time seasonal snowfall record in Rochester NY is 161.7 that occurred in 1959-1960 season. I’m looking forward…Read More
Cold-chester with a low of -9 this morning. We have had 5 Sub-Zero days this year. So happy we will get warmer this week. Have a good day all!
Hope everyone is getting through this last bout of bitter temperatures before a bit of reprieve this week. My current snowfall at the Rochester Airport stands at 91 inches and normal snowfall for the season is 101 inches. Henry, you told me in the beginning of the season I would be one of the areas to be above normal this season. It has been a…Read More
So cold!! Hope ypu all are warm and safe.
Here it is the brutal wind chills that will be in Rochester on Saturday. I am also u m der a Winter Weather Advisory from tomorrow early evening until Sunday morning. I could get 6 inches where I am we will see. Will give my final report on Weather and a Beer next week. Thanks all stay warm and safe this weekend.
Godbless and stay warm
Thank you, you too!
Yep Groundhog Day is Tuesday
I live near there.
I truly think the indcies are going to flip to warm and this cold winter will come to an abrupt end soon…just watch the progression
Why are you thinking this exactly? I’m curious. Unfortunately I think here in Michigan where I am we r gonna be stuck in the freezer for a long time. Last couple weeks feels like we traded weather with Siberia. We broke 20 degrees today and actually have blue skies. Sun is blinding me. Lol
I shared this out of humor. Henry does the great work untangling this very complicated brutal winter that for now has no end in sight.
I don’t mind having snow storms but I hate the cold. We will see.
A picture of a lot of snow from this past week in Oswego New York.
Nope, you can have that lol
I am in Rochester and I have 82 inches thus far for the season. Oswego is about an hour and a half away from Rochester. It is SO cold.
At least Erie freezes over. I could not stand that all winter.
I know i wish Lake Ontario would freeze over but as you know it’s much deeper. Where you live, in PA do you get Lahe Erie lane effect?
Yes but its not a lot. Mostly snow squalls and steady flurries. Just West of us gets more in the Highland mountains.
Funny, When I moved to Indiana, PA from Philly I thought I’d see more but thats not the case.
How much snow have you got this year?
Around 20-21″, about 13″ the last storm. I think we only average around 40″ a winter.
My weather radio won’t stop going off with Winter Storm Warnings and Ieven got a warning from Eastern NY to PA . In Rochester here the warning lasts until 7AM Tuesday morning. The best guess is 12-18 inches or even more possible closer to the lake. There could be lake effect after the storm. I know Henry has been talking about a possible blizzard…Read More
In Rochester I should get 1 to 2 feet of snow which orginally had it missing me all together. Had several snow squall warnings from MOAA weather radio all day. I now have around 61 inches of snow for the season with much more to come! Still praying for the hardest hit areas to the south that could lose power due to freezing rain. Thank you Henry…Read More
The NWS out of Buffalo just stated in their forecast discussion Confidence is increasing for a winter storm to impact our region Sunday and Sunday night with moderate to heavy snowfall. Like I said in my recent post my region can handle this. When is spring coming Henry LOL it is not even February yet. I at least want the severe cold to back off.
Good afternoon all. This storm coming up will be a doozy and kudos to Henry who stated a while ago that the pattern looking like in later January could feauture a major Big Daddy storm and here it is. I am so concerned where the feezing rain could hit in the south and I pray it wont be as bad as it looks. Where I live in Wstern New York they are…Read More
